Kinematics & Dynamics: A ball is thrown vertically upwards with an initial velocity of 20 m/s.

a) Calculate the maximum height reached by the ball.

b) How long does it take for the ball to return to its starting point?    (Neglect air resistance, g = 10 m/s²)

Heat & Thermodynamics: A 0.5 kg block of ice at 0°C is completely melted and then heated to 20°C.

a) Calculate the heat required to melt the ice.

b) Calculate the additional heat required to raise the temperature of the melted water to 20°C.    (Specific latent heat of fusion of ice = 3.34×105 J/kg, Specific heat capacity of water = 4200 J/kgoC)
